New website and promoting the company

I have been doing A LOT of work on the website at bumpsbabycareandbeyond.net this week. Have been on annual leave - supposedly - and have worked on it most day from crawling out of bed to around 10pm! Did have a day out on Wednesday though (back on the computer when I got home!) Am quite pleased with it - not too bad for an amateur.  It does what it says on the tin and has all the buttons we need.  Loads quickly, looks nice, easy to navigate and isn't too fussy. Have applied some metags to get some search engine hits but a bit dissappointed with these at present.  It needs to come up consistantly on the first page of google when people search "antenatal classes in leeds" which it isn't at the moment.  So, still working on this one. This blog comes up more often than the website! Getting some ads and listings on the net as well. I'm sure there is much scope for improvement but there is plenty of time for that later.

Have also been trawling the street, mostly around Headingley where our first classes are being held; popping into local businesses with our flyers.  Plenty of positive interest but still no bookings.

Had a little break for christmas Day but now back in harness! One of the perils of self employment.... Hoping to start booking classes soon but still trying to find the right location and making some adjustments to the course format. Trudged through the snow to view some very nice offices the other day - but waaay too expensive for us unfortunately. Hoping to have a look at some more venues as soon as we get the chance. Have a little bit of funding secured. Need to make some decisions on which leaflet/flyer design we are going to go for.

Still working on trying to get things right before we go public. Am now insured, have some business cards, have joined the Federation of antenatal educators, told my supervisor. Working on the charging structure. We want to make it affordable but also need to make a profit. Have deicided to offer smaller modules so that people can pick and choose what they want and how much they want to pay. We are now thinking of trialling some sessions with parents who already have their new baby as it is apparent that with community midwives overstretched, postnatal support can be lacking in some areas. Have been playing with some website designs and writing some original information leaflets. Have a photographer, graphic designer, artist and maybe a web designer on board; with a propect of a little bit of funding. Need to make contacts with some community groups, see if there are are any sources of custom and or funding that we can tap into there!
